Dieting can be a fun and easy process with the right knowledge while doing it forcefully often leads to unsatisfactory results.

Over time, I have realized that there are various diet friendly meals which give the same rich taste while having extremely low or no fat. However, despite my planning and efforts, I often find myself short of time to prepare breakfast in the morning. I may even opt to eat a hamburger left over that I purchased the day before. But usually, what I do is I simply order a healthy and nutritious meal which can be prepared within minutes so that I have enough time for morning exercises and to get ready for work. One of my favorite options for breakfast is waffles as they provide me enough energy and fiber along with great taste which sets me in a good mood for the day.

The buttermilk waffles offered by Nutrisystem look tempting to the eyes while having the original smell of normal waffles. They appear in perfect round shapes and turn golden as shown in pictures upon preparation. One serving of these buttermilk waffles contains 4 grams of total fat while providing 5 grams of protein, 3 grams of dietary fiber along with 160 calories. The ingredients contain flour blend which is made using a mixture of whole wheat and enriched flour, nonfat milk, soybean oil, buttermilk, whole eggs, sugar, leavening, whey, soy lecithin, salt and vanilla. You should further check the ingredients of enriched flour and leavening to ensure that you don’t consume any allergic or certain substances.

How to Prepare It

These waffles by Nutrisystem can be easily prepared using a conventional oven but people should adjust the baking time accordingly since ovens can differ greatly based on their model and type. First preheat the oven to a temperature of 375F. Then remove the waffles from the wrapper and place them in one layer over an ungreased sheet for baking. Finally put them in the oven and bake for around 8 minutes. These waffles can also be prepared using a toaster oven or a simple toaster by removing the waffles from the wrapper and heating them on light or LOW setting of the toaster appliance. You may need to put them through more than one toasting cycle but you should be careful while adjusting and handling the hot waffles when preparing them using a toaster.

The taste of these waffles is great and I combine them with a wide variety of nutritious foods for putting together a hearty and savory breakfast. Although the flavor of these waffles is good, they taste plain or bland when consumed alone which is why I mostly top them with honey, maple or other sugar free syrups along with blueberries or strawberries. You can conveniently pair them with sausage and eggs in case you are on a heavy exercise routine and require extra protein. However, if want a quick and filling breakfast while dieting then you can consider having these buttermilk waffles with a glass of skimmed milk or orange juice. Since the waffles have a plain taste, you can easily garnish them with various diet friendly options and experiment with a large number of preferred tastes.
